IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS  --  Please Read!

GRAD NITE is a PTSA-sponsored event and a wonderful school tradition by which parents of the graduating class plan the finest graduation party possible for their seniors. The purpose is to celebrate the seniors' achievements in such an entertaining way that being at this party on their night of High School Graduation is the only place they will want to be. It allows their final high school event with their classmates and friends to be in a safe and sober environment.

Last year, Grad Nite was held off-site and it was very well-received by both the graduates and their parents. This allowed more time to focus on fundraising to help defray costs and provide scholarship tickets to deserving graduates.

This year, Grad Nite will be held off-site at the MCAS Miramar Officer's Club which explains our theme of "Grad Nite Takes Flight." The event company, Party Pals, will be providing the entertainment and personnel for us again, and will include dancing, games, an illusionist and lots of fun! Our graduates will be bused from MCHS to the event and back.

In order to make this an extra special night for our graduates, we need all the volunteer help we can get, so please consider adding your name to our list of volunteers.

PROCEDURES AND POLICIES

 1.  All graduates need to arrive at MCHS between 9:00-9:30 p.m. and must bring a photo ID (school or driver)

No student will be allowed to board the coaches after 9:45 p.m.

Only graduating Mt. Carmel seniors are eligible for admission to MCHS Grad Nite 2012.

NO GUESTS will be allowed.

2.  Graduates do not need to bring anything with them.  Everything they need will be supplied.

Graduates will be issued an individual security bag where they will place all personal items.

All backpacks, purses, and cell phones will be inspected and checked in upon admission.

Grads’ cell phones will be turned off.  Access to these items during the evening may be obtained only with the help of Security personnel.  We are not responsible for, and cannot guarantee the security, of these items.  Please bring only what is absolutely necessary.

3. Graduates intending to purchase tickets on Grad Nite must arrive at 9:00 p.m. and be accompanied by

a parent or guardian to sign releases and permission slips or have signed Ticket Order, Illusionist

Permission, and Student Waiver forms in hand.  These forms are available from the MCHS Administration office or from our MCHS Grad Nite 2012 or on our website at www.mchsgradnite.com.

Tickets are $120 cash only at the door.

4. All school rules apply regarding the administration of medications.  Medications cannot be dispensed

without parental permission.  If your student needs medication, please send the medication and a

signed note.  Security personnel will hold the medication for your student in the first aid area.  Any

student needing medications that must be carried (such as asthma inhalers, Epi-pens, etc.) must also

have a signed note to this effect.  Any student with known food allergies should also submit a note

alerting us to this concern.

5. Graduates may carry their own digital camera for the duration of the evening (at their own risk).  These

items may also be checked in to the security bags room.

6. Graduates must wear Grad Nite t-shirt, appropriate clothing, and closed-toed shoes.  No hats allowed.

7. Grad Nite strives to provide all graduating seniors with a safe and sober environment in which to

celebrate.  Therefore we must enforce the following rules

·        Any graduate arriving under the influence of, or in possession of, drugs or alcohol will be detained and his/her parent or guardian will be called to pick up the graduate.

·        Any graduate caught drinking, smoking, fighting, or participating in any other form of unacceptable behavior during the event will be detained and the parent or guardian will be called.  If a parent or guardian is not available, the police will be called.

8.  Grad Nite will last until 4:30 a.m. Friday.  Graduates will be provided with ample food, water, and soft

drinks throughout the evening.  They do not need to bring any food or drink.   Please arrange to pick up your grad in the morning.  He/She will be tired and should not be allowed to drive home.  We urge you to set up carpools with friends and neighbors to make sure the grads get home safely.

9.  Graduates will be required to stay the entire night

·        Once the student has been checked in, he/she will not be allowed to leave the premises.*  There will be areas for the graduates to rest and relax. The primary goal of Grad Nite is to keep our graduates safely off the streets on this night.  We take this goal very seriously!

·        If an emergency should occur while the grad is at Grad Nite you can reach them through Bobbi Crann at 858-204-6810.

10. Any student that has purchased an advanced ticket for Grad Nite but does not check-in will have his/her

parents or guardians called.  The phone numbers on the permission slips will be used to notify the

parents or guardians.  Again, we urge you to carefully review these items with your Grad Nite attendee.
